One of the best novels of the decade comes to the screen and it manages to make the very difficult transition from hilariously funny to deeply emotional and moving without making the audience uncomfortable. The performances from all the cast are amazing and it keeps you guessing. This is one great little film!

After reading the great novel of Everything is Illuminated, I anticipated the film.. however, they were quite different.

If you've read the book, don't expect to see any of the historical sequences [those were my favorite part of the book!] and they kind of change the ending a bit.

However, in the midst of changing the story, the movie still conveys the mood and theme of the novel.. one that that can make you laugh one second, and cry the next. The book was truly moving, and the movie recreated that intensity quite well.
