This is a new review, a never version, out of teh 3 poseidon movies out there this one is second place, the first place is hte original, and last place is teh one by hallmark entertainment. This movie is full of specail effects, and great sound effect, but i feel inclined to say that, some of them seemd over, for example tehre was too much explosioins in this movie, more than would be scientifically accurate. The Movie those have mild peril, but not teh kind to have too much influence on teh hyper-emotional person. And there is one thing in teh movie which would make the whole ship unfloatable, but i can;t say as that would ruin the story for those of you who haven't seen it. But the bottom line is:
BOTTOM LINE: great movie worth watchi8ng an rewatching, but therre are some science relateed mistakes in this movie

Going into this I was expecting a big dumb disaster movie, but what I got was a really good film, and that surprised me.

The casting is extremely good, but if you're expecting a lot character development, you better watch another movie, because there isn't much for any of the characters, and some have no back story.

Peterson does a good job at directing. He makes the right scenes nerve racking and intense to watch (especially the elevator shaft scene and the ventilating shaft scene),

Some of the death scenes are some what disturbing to watch, that's even including the extras, and not only the stars.

The only really bad part of the film was Fergie with her bad acting, and even worst lip syncing. 8/10.

I really enjoy this movie. I like this verison better then the 1973 verison of poesidon. It had a great cast and a good story telling. And I like how they kept going action after action. I really enjoy the specical affect in this movie. There were however a cople of people that are in this movie I wish they took out and not kept in. Still it's a good movie.

Not a bad remake, the special effects are amazing, the acting not too shabby. Somehow it's not as good as the original, but it's still definitely worh watching.

Based off the 1972 disaster classic, Poseidon is a real disappointment in living up to its roots and for being a disaster flick. The Poseidon is a luxury cruise liner somewhere in the middle of the ocean around New Years when it gets hit by a rogue wave and capsizes. This is probably where everything starts to go wrong. Only two people seem to realize that the ship can't survive being upside down. Of these two, one is Dylan Johns (Josh Lucas), a former Navy man, and the other is Richard Nelson (Richard Dreyfus), an architect who prior to the wave, almost committed suicide. Yes, the architect knows more about ships than the ship's crew. Strike one. Johns attracts the attention of a group of others who want to get out that include the likes of Kurt Russel, Jacinda Barret, Mia Maestro, and Emmy Rossum, and they're off. During their trek, people in the group will perish, but you'll know exactly who they'll be and how they'll die way in advance; there are really no surprises here. Strike two. The filmmakers just seem to try and get our group of survivors into tense situation after tense situation. While that may be good, they seem to forget the essence of disaster movies, and that's to be a character drama as we watch how each character starts to grow in the face of impending doom. It is here where Poseidon seems to neglect, and that kills the movie. The only thing that Poseidon has going for it is the spectacular special effects. If you're a fan of over the top effects, Poseidon doesn't disappoint.

Overall, Poseidon is a disappointment, especially for those who have seen disaster movies before. Poseidon is probably best seen if you're looking to watch your first disaster flick or if you love great special effects.

This movie was not the best ever, but it was kind of enjoyable to watch and better version with all the special effects, but still with that it does not compare to the originality of the original film.

This remake is ok but they did it badly. I was hoping it could be as good as the original but it not. All i can say is the is was done poorly and I was not happy with this film.
