I don’t remember this movie coming out in the movie theaters so I was surprised when I saw this at the video rental store. At first I was skeptical about how good a movie could be that never went to the movie theaters but after I thought about the fact that both Morgan Freeman and John Cusack were in the movie I decided to take the chance. I’m glad that I did too because I really liked this movie. From the beginning it was easy to tell there was something being built up that the movie’s writers intended to throw at the viewer. Cusack plays an ex-police officer taking his son on a camping trip. Freeman plays a mercenary who went MIA back in the 70’s and was never seen again…until now. Freeman and 4 other ex-military types are in town for an assassination and everything is going fine until Freeman is injured in a car wreck and that is when everyone finds out his character isn’t dead like everyone believed. That is when the action starts to take place. While the government is taking Freeman’s character to Washington his buddies are waiting and the car with Freeman, the FBI man and the dead, recently shot in the head driver, is sent down the hill and into the river. Of course Freeman makes it out and who should come along but Cusack and his son. Seconds before dying the FBI guy tells Cusack to take custody of his prisoner. After much debate Cusack decides to take Freeman back to the authorities since he is an ex cop and all. All this and this is only the beginning. There is a twist and some action and suspense as well. Overall it is a great movie in my opinion. I write this review being a fan of both John Cusack and Morgan Freeman so my review is a little tilted in their favor. At full price I would buy the movie but when it gets down to $9 or below a definite buy in my book.
