Edie Sedgwick (Sienna Miller) was born to be a socialite as her family was wealthy and well-known. Sedgwick was hospitalized with an eating disorder and subsequently dropped out of school in 1965 in order to move to New York City. There she befriended and was taken as the lover of the famous artist, Andy Warhol (Guy Pearce), and she soon became one of his many female "superstars." Warhol cast the beautiful Sedgwick in his films, used her as a model for his photographs, which were used for covers of many magazines and she fell into the media spotlight. However, Sedgwick then had an affair with the famous, folk singer-songwriter, Billy Quinn (Hayden Christensen), who attempted to persuade her that Warhol was just using her to boost his own career. Sedgwick becomes torn between her two lovers and she is rejected by both men and suffers her own downfall.
