Much different than the Clooney version...Longer and slower...

Maybe too slow for it's own good. The later version is paced better and has more familiar actors, which in reality makes it a better movie for me. The one thing they did show more of, is the planets surface, which plays a huge role in the book. The book was written by Stanislaw Lem, probably the greatest non-English speaking Science Fiction writer of our time. Overall it is probably one of the best Russian Sci-Fi movies to come out, but compared to the Hollywood version it's a bit of a dinosaur. Check out some of the other stories written by Stanislaw Lem
