The adaptation is a solid one, but the technology doesn't keep up with what is trying to be shown on the screen. The CGI still needs to be better before trying to move an epic tale like Beowulf into the world of animation.

I could be losing my mind but I really thought that this movie was a live action film. Within seconds I realized it was a cartoon. A cartoon starring a lot of known actors but its still a cartoon. It tells the story of beowulf who was a famous monster killer. He comes to a town to kill a monster but ends up making a deal with the monster's mother. Then the monster's mother dies and another monster was born and comes after beowulf. Yes this is the actual plot but lets get down to the basics. The draw to this movie is the special effects or the graphics. Yes the movie looks good but its still a cartoon. Not much of a difference from this movie and anything that pixar is releasing nowadays. This movie is not well done and you should pass on it unless you have nothing better to do.

I'm actually impressed with how far the animation has come, but it wasn't perfect, and whenever the animation wasn't quite there, it ended up distracting me from the story.

Very disappointing. The monsters look fake(especially the dragon) and the whole movie might as well be a poorly done video game. The best part of the whole movie was the battle between Beowulf and Grendel,which was not that amazing. Don't get me wrong, some of the graphics were really good, and Grendel was actually done very well. The problem I had with Beowulf vs. Grendel was that it happened too early. The bottom line is, Beowulf is an average movie with unconvincing special effects and an underwhelming ending.

I wasn't sure what this movie was about before I saw it. I had heard the name Beowulf before, but I couldn't remember the story around it.

The animation was well done, most of the characters looked like their voices and it helped you...

The animation was well done, most of the characters looked like their voices and it helped you forget that sometimes you were watching a totally computer generated movie. Definitely not a movie for smaller children.

All together I have to say it was very good. Maybe a little confusing at moments. But entertaining, and action filled.

  Beowulf deserves to be taken semiseriously; its eye candy is mixed with narrative fiber and dramatic protein. But it begs to be taken frivolously. Effects have grown so exciting in the realm of the third dimension that you just sit there all agog behind your polarizing glasses.
