Carl and David Scott prepare to take a small flight with their father. Carl is excited however, David would be more than happy to stay home, reading a good book. Enjoying the flight Carl is given control of the aircraft when suddenly a thunderstorm comes out of nowhere causing the aircraft to crash into the ocean. Carl and David manage to escape, but their father had trouble with the seat belt and went down with the craft. The boys managed to swim to a distant shore hoping to find help so, they could go back for their father. Wandering for hours, Carl and David flabbergasted by an explosion caused by archaeologist, Crabb. With their new companion they travel to the nearest village to discover dinosaurs are living on this island, with people. Carl is in a haste to save his father and go home, back to civilization. However, David is fully receptive and wanting to become a part of this new found world. This new found civilization has a problem all its own, the sunstones, their energy source, is dying and with that an ancient evil could destroy them all.
