Les Diaboliques is a truly suspenseful and thrilling movie. The story is a chilling tale about the lengths a person will go to when they’ve been pushed too far. The characters are all very intricate, complex, and each one is essential to the plot of the movie. Although this film is in black and white, and has subtitles, you should not let those facts deter you from seeing this movie, because you will be missing out on an amazing film with one of the best surprise endings you will ever see. If you’re a fan of suspenseful or frightening movies, then this film is perfect for you.

This movie was remade in the 90's, I want to say 1996, with Sharon Stone and Kathy Bates. Of the two, this version is far and away the better.

This story could have been written by Poe or Hitchcock, but was not.
It is slow suspense, slow thrills. As it was made a long time ago, when these kinds of concepts had a different meaning. But it still stands against time and works well.
Just how far would some one go for a chance at 'salvation'. A dark story that our anti-heroine wants to just make go away, but nothing works out the way she wants.
The acting is pretty good, but not great, there are some points where you can feel the actor struggling...especially when it comes to the kids whom are doing the acting.
The direction is above par, but not superb, only in that there a couple of moments where you are left wanting, the alibi scenes are a good example.
Overall, though, a decent film with all the tell tale signs of a classic and no wonder they remade it.
Be warned it's subtitled.
