Oh what can I say about this movie. Its based on a book describing a dsyfunctional famly. So I guess they decided to make a dysfunctional movie. To say that this movie is horrible is an understatement. I guess this movie is a hit or miss and from my point of view its mostly miss. It tells the story of a young man whose mother essentially gives her child to her "doctor". Is he a "doctor" I cannot really say. One of the problems I find with this movie is that I have no idea what it is. Is it a comedy?? a drama?? a movie?? who knows. I have to say this movie really is just a mess. I am not a big fan of movies like this where everything is ecletic and is supposed to be weird and unusual. I found this movie to be really boring and not very good. Bening is actually pretty good in this movie playing the mother and the rest of the cast is decent. I really cannot recommend this movie unless you have read the book and you want to see what it was about.

"Running With Scissors" is such a wonderful movie and I'm surprised that it didn't receive more critical acclaim than it did. The story is about how Augusten Burroughs has to take care of his bipolar mom played by Annette Bening. The film is funny at times and sad at times, but overall, it's great.
