Rating: Very poor: 1/2 star.

At World's End was without a doubt the best Pirates movie to date. It is exciting, action packed, and very surprising. I thought I had the ending figured out, but when it got to the final battle, I was pleasantly surprised.

The biggest knocks against Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End are its overly complex plot and its length. I am inclined to agree on both counts but you know what? The movie really isn't as bad as everyone is saying. There's a reason it's the number four grossing movie in 2007. But then again Spider-man 3 and Shrek 3 are the top 2 movies so what the hell does the public know? (But Pirates IS number 1 worldwide)

It's certainly the weakest of the 3 movies in the franchise. Length is definitely a huge problem as there are scenes that just seem to drag on with no end in sight. But the action sequences are very well done and almost make up for the ungodly length of the film. There is also an incredibly complex plot that at times was hard to follow as pretty much everyone was double-crossing everyone else. On the one hand, it made the film more unpredictable as I had no idea where things were leading to, and on the other hand, I was simply too confused to care about what was going on. The acting is to be expected in a pirate film, it's not any better or worse than the previous two, but the actors have pretty much made these roles their own and seem extremely comfortable with them.

The true stars of the film are the action sequences and the CGI effects, namely Davy Jones. He's about as good a CGI character as Gollum was in Lord of the Rings. The action was great, once I sat back, relaxed and realized I was watching a pirate film, it was much more enjoyable. Not the most satisfying of endings, nor the best conclusion to what could have been a great film series but things do get tied up in a way, of course a sequel is always possible and with the amount of cash it made, inevitable. Thank God for home entertainment centers where you can watch from the comfort of your own couch because if I had to sit through 3-hours of this in the theater, I would not be so generous with my score.

But the movie definitely pays off: action, humor, romance, this is the ultimate pirate film. The sword fight sequences were not as amazing as the second, but the battles between ships filled in that gap. The movie ends (and by end I mean before AND after the credits) perfectly, with a nicely wrapped up package. Oh and on a more personal note: Orlando in the bandanna in the end is so FREAKING HOT! Better than the second and equally good as the first. This film has its problems, confusing at times and at one moment it harkened back to the "Clash of the Titans" and other such movies and was a bit too ridiculous.
