It sometimes amazes me who they pick to make movie bios out of. Normally they pick a serial killer or a psycho and this is one of them. Ed Gein was a serial killer in the 40s and 50s. For some odd reason he was used as a model for various movies most notably Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Well the movies used the bare bones (no pun intended) aspects of Gein's story and formulate their movie. That being said this movie tells basically his last few days before he was caught. It plays like your modern psycho movie where Gein walks around and snapping at any moment killing people. One problem with the movie is that the actual Gein was nowhere as big as the actor protraying him in this movie. Hodder is known as the actor who played Jason in a few Friday the 13 movies. He is a big man whereas Gein was not. Hodder's acting is at best wooden with not much there for him to work with. Mostly stares and low talking is what he does through out the movie besides the obvious physical parts. The story is interesting but not well done. Its very plain with little or no time spent on Gein's backstory or how and why he became what he was. I really cannot recommend this movie because its not very well done. If they where going for the gore aspect in this movie they missed the boat. Compared to the other movies out there this movie's level of gore is not very high.
