Lucky Number Slevin is a daring thriller through and through and it keeps you guessing until the end. However, there is a problem with this strategy. The case of mistaken identity can be a confusing mess of a story, but Slevin arounds that. The first half of the film is a great talkative, slow moving mystery, but the second half suffers in turn. The film tries to be too clever in Tarantino or Guy Ritchie way and borrows some from other mystery movies. The direction of the movie is expertly done. And the screenplay is tight, and perhaps too tight. Every detail is important and it's not good because it demands the viewer to pay attention to every thing and remember until the end. The cast is an all star one and they seem to be having fun with the script. Except every character appears that they have a grade A vocabulary. Plus, the set design is dizzing and ugly. The climatic twist at the end hits you head on and hard, and it all feels too forced. Overall, Lucky Number Slevin is alright mystery/thriller.
