It's dark and beautiful, and the main character is one that everyone can connect to on some level. It takes so many terrible lies and life events, and manages to bring a feeling of understanding to it all.. a must see.

It's hard to describe this movie, its long but followable, its slow but entertaining, and its dark but manages to shed some light. The Quiet isn't exactly what you would expect after watching the trailer - but for the better. Going in the movie I expected this Dot girl who's deaf (Camilla Belle) to somehow figure out that Nina (Elisha Cuthbert) wants to kill her 'sick' father and she would somehow save the day. That is exactly was doesn't happen. Instead we're treated with a intriguing plot that will have you guessing about a few things until the end, and as for 'heavy' moments - there are a few, which I always like. Now I'm not going to ruin the rest by telling you things you can find out yourself but before you watch the movie, remember its a Limited release generally not aimed at the mainstream public which means the average joe probably will not enjoy it - BUT if you were to ask me was it worth the 1 hour drive just to get to the theater to this movie, the $7 parking and the $9 admission? I'd say yes.

This is a very interesting movie based on the ads for it. I saw them and it instantly caught my eye as a movie that could have slipped through the cracks. It had promise but in seeing it I felt like something was missing. Dot is the new girl who moves in with her Godparents after the death of her father. Cuthbert plays the popular girl who dislikes dot. The family is dysfunctional in a way which I will not reveal. The problem I have with this movie is the way it all plays out. The beginning is very promising but the movie ultimately falls flat. The ending is interesting in that it does not make sense. The acting is ok with Belle playing the deaf dot well. I have to say I felt disappointed in the ending. That being said this is a movie that should be rented if the opportunity is there. Its definately a movie that some people will love and some will hate. Its a tweener which is worth a rental.
