This movie really couldn't live up to the original. It was o.k. in it's own right and still brought some pretty freaky scenes including the one with the bath. Maybe worth a rental.

Naomi Watts gives an excellent performance as Rachel Keller, who, six months later, has moved from Seattle to the quiet coastal community of Astoria, Oregon. Rachel begins a new job at the Daily Astorian, a local newspaper, working for Max Rourke (Simon Baker). Before long, there is news of a teenage homicide in town. Rachel investigates, finding the dead boy's face shows a deformed expression of horror just like the previous victims of Samara Morgan's cursed tape. Back at home, Aidan starts to develop hypothermia, and his body is suddenly covered with bruises. His behavior grows increasingly odd and distant, and while driving one day, the car carrying Aidan and Rachel is repeatedly attacked by deer, nearly killing them. Strange occurrences within their house (including visions of Samara, a burn mark in the wall which resembles the tree from the cursed video, and seeming poltergeist activity) frighten Rachel, leading her and Aidan to flee.

2002's 'The Ring' was a completely new cinema experience. It was so horrifying that it stayed with you for days after. It didn't use gore to scare us, it delivered the chills through haunting visuals and sounds. 'The Ring Two', released in 2005, is good for horror movie sequel standards, although it is of lesser quality by default. There are some cheap scares, but the film is mostly comprised of creepy chills similar to the original, although it's not quite as scary. On the whole, it is not an excellent movie, but worth watching if you liked the original. Worth noting is an extraordinary scene in which Aidan is in the bath and all the water in the room is floating up to the ceiling.

An excellent follow-up to the awesome movie the ring. I loved the scariness in this one, and I did not regret watching this movie. The perfect movie for a night with the girls where you want a lil bit of a thrill and a twist of excitement. A++!
