One of my all time favorites, although heavily flawed. you get the feeling that this could have been the perfect movie..if only the casting director wasn't on drugs (Reeves and Ryder), and Coppola had been more faithful to source material. It's called Bram Stoker's Dracula remember? Still, I never tire of watching it. The visuals are gorgeous, dreamlike, as is the soundtrack. There is an extremely effective use of light and shadow, echoing the theme of innosence versus depravity. The soundtrack is spot on, really pulling you into the athmosphere of this romantic yet terrifying world. The are a few impressive acting jobs, and too many poor ones. But it's still among the best I've seen, I think the power is owed to the story itself, which is, like the Count himself, timeless.
