Studio Ghibli does it again! I really loved this film. I thought the plot was really unique and creative. Visuals were amazing, as usual. The book it was based on was really good, as well. A really good movie, overall.

Howl's Moving Castle is the latest motion picture to come from acclaimed director, Hayao Miyazaki. Howl's Moving Castle tells the story of Sophie, a shy homely young woman, who by chance, meets the wizard Howl. As a punishment for being with him, she is turned into an old woman. Now starts Sophie's journey to far off lands and into the world of magic as she tries to get back to normal and to save Howl himself. Miyazaki does not disappoint and Howl's Moving Castle is one of the best animated movies for 2005. At points it does show the film's length, but overall this is a very good film. If you love animated movies, or looking for a good family film, then look no further, Howl's does not disappoint in those categories.

A thoroughly bizarre story, but thoroughly worth watching. Miyazaki's story lines are always a bit on the odd side, but this atypical approach to writing is what makes his movies so fascinating and captivating.

The story is so exciting and adventurous, and the fun never stops. It was so great to see Diana Wynne Jones's spectacular book being made into such a great anime. How could anyone not love this movie?

A love story between an 18-year-old girl named Sophie, cursed by a witch into an old woman's body, and a magician named Howl. Under the curse, Sofphie sets out to seek someone who will break the curse, which takes her to Howl's strange moving castle. In the castle, Sophie meets Howl's fire demon, named Kalsifur. Seeing that she is under a curse, the demon makes a deal with Sophie--if she breaks the contract he is under with Hauru, then Kalsifur will lift the curse that Sophie is under, and she will return to her 18-year-old shape.

  Parse it any way you like, Miyazaki's gifts as an animator place him in a category of his own. To see his latest film is to be somehow reminded of Italians who could hear Verdi's operas as soon as they were sung or English readers who could experience the novels of Dickens episode by episode.
