"A gore classic for sure, but not by any stretch of the imagination does that mean it's a good movie."

Cannibal Ferox', also titled 'Make Them Die Slowly!', and surprisingly not titled 'Purely For Profit' or 'Cannibal Holocaust Rip-Off', is another of the numerous low-budget Italian cannibal movies released in the early eighties. Unfortunately, extremely brutal violence and great music can't save this film from a stolen and truly ridiculous plot, occasionally atrocious acting, and gratuitous and unearned shocks.

Genuine scares and actual suspense simply don't exist in this film. Art doesn't exist here. Umberto Lenzi thinks gratuitous, pointless and gut-wrenchingly horrible violence and gore can somehow make a movie, he thinks it's somehow the same thing as actual artistry, and he thinks that by showing animals including people ripping each other to bits and getting mutilated can make up for appalling acting and stale, somewhat stolen plot.
