We saw this in theatres. See, my mom loves Star Trek, and we saw it in theatres for Mothers Day. I must say, it's awesome!
I really like this movie. It has a lot of great action. A real must-see for Star Trek fans!

I'll admit I'm a Star Trek fan, not a hardcore one mind you. Loved three of the series (Star Trek, Next Gen, and Deep Space 9) as well as the even numbered Trek films (2,4,6,and 8). This film has breathed new life into the franchise and has to me made up for 11 years of disapointent the franchise has given me (shows Voyger, Enterprise and the film Nemesis). The film is a revival a return to form, the film does the same thing as the "Mega Man 9" game by going back to basics is going foward. And this is a great thing because it has brought a whole new generation of fans or a new aprreciation for the franchise. My mom and my friends aren't Star Trek fans and they love this film.

I'm also a fan of J.J. Abrams and he was defenantly the right choice to make this film because he both understands and treats the "Star Trek" mythology with respect but most of all a master at characterization and relations. The speical effects and action are top notch, the music was great I even loved that end credit music which was a remixed version of the original TV show theme song, even the plot is good, but most imporatantly the performance and the casting are all spot on and on key. Everone was just great and some actually looked (or a little) like the predesessors that played the orignal roles, and the way J.J. handled them he made them even better than before (in my opinion anyway). Loved Zackary Quinto as Spock whom is my favorate character in the show we say some of the famous trademarks but also some new features like one of them the fact he has a romantic relationship with character Ahora (Zoe Salina)another reason why he's my favorate character.
Karl Urban is great as Bones. And of course my second favorate character in the show James T. Kirk played by newcomer Chris Pine. His performance I thought was great, some say he looks like Shatner though personally I though he looked more like actor Michael Witherly who plays Tony from the show "NCIS" heck the was Chris played him remined me of the Tony character. He's arrogant, cocky, a non comitment type when it comes to women and romance much like James Bond, but is very smart, has great leadership quality, determined and does care about other people. I even love some moments that I thought were hilarious like that simulator where he is comanding the starship with an apple in his hand. But most other comidy moments belong to Scotty played with charming hilarity by Simon Pegg.

Star Trek blasts off to the stars and beyond.

I, being a Star Trek fan, went to the Movies with great enthusiasm, and just in case I readied myself for disappointment, but luckily, I was in n-way disappointed. The Special effects of this ,movie are stunning, however, there was a point where you may or may not notice that the effects are too “special� by that I means if you look closely enough, you will be able to see some of the things digitally inserted/altered. Also there were lots of cool explosions, while there may have been a little less, I thought they were awesome. Also I liked how the movie gives an introduction, or prologue, into the whole Star Trek saga, and explains things like “where did McCoy (doctor of the enterprise) get the nickname “bones�� and how did he become doctor anyway. One discrepancy that I noticed was that the technology seen on this enterprise, and the general layout of the ship seemed to be different to such a point where it would be easily notice, if you had seen the original series. As for the characters, Spock didn’t seem to Spock-ish, even though he is supposed to be new to this business, and has never run the enterprise before. But generally all of the characters are the same; Scotty, Uhura, Kirk, etc. while they are played by different people, Also the sound in this movie was very well made, and the music fitted the story, and what was going on well
BOTTOM LINE: IF YOU’RE A TREKKIE, BUY IT, IF YOUR NOT A TREKIE, THAN RENT IT

I'm too much of a Star Trek nerd to judge this movie objectively. I was never sure what to expect going into this film. Would I be satisfied if it was a good movie, or did it need to be a good Star Trek movie? In the past I've been all too aware that the two concepts can easily be mutually exclusive.

It is an entertaining film, done as a big budget action film. It's designed to appeal to a broad audience, rather than a niche one, and that's a wise thing to do. The use of the age old Trek plot device of time travel whose effects create an alternate reality is an elegant way of justifying a whole slew of new Trek related adventures.

More Trek can only be a good thing.
