Teamed with Jessie Brown, Bert Kalmar has one of the best acts in town. But just when his dance career takes off, he suffers a knee injury backstage, forcing him to fall back on one of his other career choices: song writing. In a twist of fate, he is teamed with tunesmith Harry Ruby, who together produce some of the greatest songs of their era. But before long, their friendship hits a speed bump and it's up to their wives to get them back together again.
