Anjali is eight years old and is living a happy life with her father, Rahul, and grandmother. Her mother, Tina, died soon after giving birth to her, but left her eight letters - one for each of her first eight birthdays. In the eighth and final letter, Tina assigns a task to Anjali: she must find Anjali Sharma, who was Rahul's best friend in college. She was also in love with him, but Rahul fell in love with Tina, so Anjali kept her love hidden. The younger Anjali is determined to fulfill her mother's wishes, and sets out to reunite her father with his best friend and, perhaps, his true love.
