A chronicle of country music legend Johnny Cash's life, from his early days on an Arkansas cotton farm to his rise to fame with Sun Records in Memphis, where he recorded alongside Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins. Follow Johnny as he loses a brother, and gains an insight to what is important in life. Leaving behind his childhood home, he heads out to the big world, through the service. He entered the military and took on a wife to curb the lonliness, starting up a family and making his way. All along, music has been the only constant source of happiness in his world, so when his bills start to go unpaid, and eviction notices are served, he take a shot at stardom. He and his boys head on down to try and swing a record deal, and although off to a shaky start, he pulled it off. So starts the trail that 'The Man in Black' eventually blazed. Watch him, as he meets his soul mate, June Carter, and as he battles his childhood demons with even bigger ones, through drugs and alcohol. It's a rollercoaster of a ride for John & June, but one that is well worth taking.
