A great performance by Renne Zellwegger and Russell Crowe. It is about boxer Jim Braddock and his struggle to help the family he loved. It is based in the Depression era and it shows you that no matter how hard things may get you can always over come them. The A+ story is backed with fantastic acting. A really fabulous movie!

Those that tell you that this is a film about boxing didn't understand the film at all. This isn't a film about boxing but the film is about a boxer. This is a film about a man's undying spirit and his dogged ability to fight his way back from a position where his family is nearly on the streets and they have very little to eat. When I remember this film two scenes oout of the many marvellous scenes stand out for me.. One was the scene where Jim goes to the club and passes his hat around to collect some money so he can pay his electricity bill. You can see that he'd rather do anything but this but his need to have his children back is stronger than his pride. The other one was in the restaraunt before the last fight. Max Baer says something like " Look at him.. hiding behind his wife's skirts." For a moment Jim just stands there and you think there is going to be a fight right there but then he just smiles and says. "Yeah, ain't she something?"

You can't help but fall in love with the character at this point.

it was a heart warming story it had a good actor it had a not bad script the thing that i liked was the directing and how they filmed it 4 out of 5
