Batoru Rowaiaru - 8/10; So a lot of people and almost all the reviews I just read after watching the movie say it's a modern classic about the "folly of violence". Now I'm in doubt if I saw the same movie that they did. Okay, granted the concept that they built this movie on is great and some of the scenes are great, either for the ingenuity of the killing or stupidity of it. But what do I really think? I think (...and I'm gonna shout it out)

HOLY **** FUCK OF HOLY FUCK (multiple exclamations too) WTF.

That's my review. B-A-D acting of cosmic proportions. You haven't even heard corny if you haven't heard the dialogue in this movie. Cheesy. Words simply ain't enough. I think I missed almost half the movie because of the involuntary facepalms it induced, double facepalms at that. I saw it through two fingers with just one eye. You don't even have to be stoned to laugh at this blunder. Almost every other scene could be easily worked into a fail meme.

I'll admit though. After I started watching it, I couldn't bring myself to stop it. Like the characters in the movie, I was powerless to avoid the travesty that had befallen me. I was thrown on the island with them. There was no escape. I'm hyperventilating just writing this review.

I need to calm down.

You know what! Don't even listen to me just watch the damn movie and decide for yourself.

Interesting movie. Imagine all the pettiness and clique behaviors in school and now imagine everyone desperately trying to both kill everyone else and find someone to trust. Some of the acting is subpar as well as the editing. Well worth the watch...

A wonderfully satirical film that both astounds and disturbs with equal measure.

A modern classic of asian cinema, full of many unforgetable moments.

If you can get passed the little hurdle of watching subs you got a great movie in front of you. Battle Royale is set a couple of years in the future where society is failing and a growing barrier violence between kids and adults is becoming too much so the Prime Minister of the country starts a "game" called Battle Royale. The rules for this game are simple, you have 3 days to survive and only 1 person can win which means you must kill your very own friends if you don't want to die. The contestants are chosen based on the worst students of the country. Throughout the movie there is lots of violence and is interesting to see the way some kids deal with the situation coupled with a decent ending and you got yourself a good movie.

Battle Royale was released in 2000 and has gathered such a cult following and fame in other countries that there IS going to be an american re-make, least that's what the rumor mill is saying.

It has a point if you want to see it, but if you don't its a great little gory action movie without it.

If you don't like action, this is still worth seeing. It is very well done and for as many characters as there were it was easy to follow. - Definitely in my top 10.

I like it a lot, the story, the scenes, the blood, the idea, the music... I dont know, this movie change a lot of things inside me.

I honestly can't say anything bad about this film. Yes, the acting is over-the-top at most points, but I couldn't see it work any other way. The plot itself is so outrageous and gritty that it alone makes the movie totally enjoyable! As for the length, the film moves along so rapidly that once it's over, it really doesn't feel like it's been 2 hours. Definitely a classic.

Instant classic, nothing to complain about with the composition. Only thing that drags it down a bit is bad acting from a lot of the kids.

Its been said before about this movie, but still rings true "Its this generation's Clockwork Orange"... gritty, dark (but light-hearted at times), filled with social commentary and some scenes are rather disturbing to watch.
