I love watching true to life stories and this is one of the best and touching story. I like how Don drived his team and how the "white" teamates understand their "black teamates". How Don's wife support him all the way. But the ending was the most touching where it informs what happened to everyone....

I love it.

Disney really seems intent on finding great sports stories to bring to the big screen. We saw the great Remember the Titans, The Rookie, and Miracle, but with Glory Road, Disney seems to have found a bump in the road.

Disney really seems intent on finding great sports stories to bring to the big screen. We saw the great Remember the Titans, The Rookie, and Miracle, but with Glory Road, Disney seems to have found a bump in the road.

Glory Road is the inspiring true story about the Texas Western University (present day UTEP) NCAA basketball team starting five African Americans in the national championship at the behest of coach Don Haskins (portrayed by Josh Lucas). Don Haskins begins the movie becoming the coach of Texas Western, after being a high school girls coach. He quickly realizes that basketball isn't a high priority at the school and has trouble recruiting some top players. He then decides to recruit differently, and takes in black players. There is of course some unrest at the higher ups from the college upon hearing that Haskins is planning on starting black players; it is seen in the movie that black players are only for the bench. Then the team starts to win, and they keep on winning and suddenly find themselves in the national championship against a Kentucky team coached by the legendary Adolph Rupp. The rest is history as the saying goes.

Glory Road is a pretty good sports movie. But what keeps it from being with the likes of Remember the Titans and Miracle is the fact that the movie doesn't focus itself on the players themselves and the troubles they're having. There are problems, and near the end of the movie the black players lash out after losing their one and only game. But these problems don't focus on the drama of the characters, and are instead events that happen, making the lash out somewhat surprising for the viewers. And this is a large problem for the movie. The basketball scenes are very well done, but there isn't enough behind the scenes drama to help with the end of the film.

Overall, Glory Road is a good sports film. If you love Disney's other sports films or any sports film at all, then you'll enjoy Glory Road.

Josh Lucas does a great job playing Don Haskins a basketball coach who changed the game by starting an all african american team in a championship. This movie is very well done. THe story is very good. Probably in my top 10 movies.
