Raw, emotional, powerful, a traditional love story in every sense of the word. Jake Glynnennhal and Heath Ledger are and were respectively, actors at their acting peak. The cinematography was beautiful and the story was great, dealing with the conflicted emotions of two men who find themselves in love in a society that doesn't accept their kind of love, and forced into a situation they don't like. It ends tragically, and serves as a powerful message that nobody, no matter who they are, should be denied the right to love whoever they want to love. Everyone has emotions and feelings, and Ang Lee's fine direction proves it in this movie masterpiece. I enjoyed it, and I highly recommend it for people so they can see things from a different perspective. :idea: Enough said! ;)

I think it was a little over-hyped. The story seemed to drag on in a few places - I found out later that the same man who directed this movie directed The Hulk.

Not a bad movie. I didn't expect to enjoy the film, but it truly was a touching love story. I just was upset that the women got hurt in this movie. The message I took from the movie was that you have to do what makes you happy.

The best movie of 2005, and should have beat the shallow piece of crap Crash. People who call it the gay cowboy movie" are making it seem slight and gimmicky. Far from it. Heath Ledger's subtle performance is amazing and while Jake Gylenhall's more flamboyant performance is not as effective as Heath's, it's certainly great. Michelle Williams is also great in a somewhat small role. The ending is extremely sad and depressing and this movie is a compelling modern classic. When I saw it, I no longer called it the gay cowboy movie. I just called it a great movie.
