A very good scary movie.This is a really scary movie to watch.I love the plot and actors.This film was funny too.I don't care if there was no real monsters it was just supposed to be scary and suspenseful.It was a great movie over all.

I can certainly understand why someone would not be overly fond of this film, but I am always surprised at how adamant people are about hating it. Personally, I found it interesting and engaging, with absolutely gorgeous cinematography and a wonderful cast. Bryce Dallas Howard, in particular, was amazing.
I suspect that people were expecting something scarier (though I wouldn't classify Sixth Sense or Signs as horror either) or more exciting, and were surprised to find a more gentle period piece. I would advise viewers to go in with as few preconceptions as possible. Just expect a slower film that concentrates more on the characters than on explosions and gore. As for the "twist", I agree that it was not terribly surprising, but I don't think it was meant to be. All the clues are there, so I think this is more about the character's surprise than the audience's. Oh, and for the people who thought the society was unrealistic I advise you to look into history. There have been many societies like this in all parts of the world throughout human history.

This has to be one of the best strange movie I ever watch. I don't want to give anything away. The movie had a very good twist. And it had a great cast. I really think that this is of of the best mystery film that I ever watch.

It was also a bit more psychological. I was confused when I first saw it because there was a book called Running Out of Time that I had read recently that seemed so much like it. It just kind of weirded me out.

M. Night Shyamalan's fourth movie, well fourth since he hit it big with Sixth Sense, takes place in the turn of the 20th century in a small community in Pennsylvania. The Village is about a small community living in peace with a group of creatures who live in the nearby woods. As part of the peace, the people cannot enter the woods and cannot have the color red seen anywhere, and the creatures cannot enter the village. Enter the lives of Joaquin Phoenix and Bryce Dallas Howard (their character's names escapes me) who start a relationship, but something happens which causes Howard to venture in to the woods for help. As with his previous efforts, Shyamalan offers a twist, but the main effect of his latest is overshadowed by a weaker one, yes there are multiple, which unfortunately seems to ruin the overall effectiveness of the movie. The strengths of The Village, along with all past Shyamalan tales has been the acting, and the cast is brilliant. The cinematography is top notch, but The Village falls flat on relying too heavily on trying to create a spectacular twist that by the time it comes around, you don't realize it or you're already disappointed. Even with this disappoint, Shyamalan still manages to craft a good story and manages to get the most out of the cast. Overall a pretty good movie, but it could have used less twists.
