I have been hearing rumors that Nick Fury will make an apperance in this movie, how big an apperance who knows, but that they will take the Ultimate universe version of him. So basically they would get Samuel L. Jackson for the role, But I must emphasize this is just a rumor and Nick may not be seen at all but considering Tony Stark is a weapons manufacturer you would think Nick and Tony would cross paths. The site with this rumor is http://www.aintitcool.com/node/33090.

Since no one seems to care about this news but it is no longer a rumour or at least one site says it isn't, Nick Fury is played by Samuel L Jackson but it won't be a huge role probably nothing more than a cameo but it will probably be enough to make a potential Nick Fury movie.

Agree. I heard that rumor and think its a great idea because Nick Fury was based off of Samuel Jackson in one way or another.

Too bad it would cost too much for the studios to make a live-action Ultimates movie... especially with the cast the Ultimates made in the first vol... I wonder if they asked Depp to play Tony before they cast Downey... that would have been hilarious!

The Original Nick Fury is from a comic called Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos. Then became Nick Fury Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. He is a tough, gruff white sob. And yes the Ultimate versions (according to Wikipedia) facial features are based on Samuel L. Jacksons, with his consent. Not to sound racist, I like the original, gruff, cigar smoking guy better than the new guy. Remember this is not the Ultimate Iron man ether. The original has real history. This is just my opinion though.

Nick Fury would make any Marvel movie better, and with the casting of Nick Fury as Sam Jackson, this is gonna be awesome.

I saw the preview the other day and being a staunch Iron Man fan (I had the first Iron Man new comic as a child) I knew what the Movie was immediately in to the preview. Judging from what I saw it looks like they are trying to cover that history in this film. They showed the original Iron Man outfit from it's inception to the newest version there is and everything in between in the preview. Gotta say LOOKS GREAT! No inkling of Nick Fury but there was a lot of military stuff so who knows.

Try not! Do or do not! There is no try.

Ultimate iron Man is interesting... the origin is a lil diff, but the character is pure... if you read Ultimates Vol 1 and 2 you'll see that its the epitome of Tony Stark... a drunk womanizer billionaire who is using the Iron Man armor to make a difference in the world... but the origin in Ultimate Iron Man miniseries was written by the author of Ender's Game, Orson Scott-Card... he decided to play around with the character in interesting ways... first of all, his amazing intellect is from genetic manipulation... his brain, along with the rest of his body, is constantly growing... in order to keep him from bursting apart, his dad created an invisible liquid armor made of nontech that would repair his body, and keep him in a basically human form... all of this however hurts like hell, so as he got older, he found the only thing that kept the pain at bay was alcohol... hence his drinking problem...

I'm not saying this is better then Tony's normal, mainstream origin, just has some interesting twists and ideas in it... and I'm glad they are keeping the classic Iron Man story for the movie...

LMAO... Just because you like one Fury over the other, I don't think that qualifies you as racist. I'm black and I liked the original Kingpin rather than the DareDevil movie, Michael Clark Duncan Kingpin. But 'to each his own'... Personally I like both versions of Fury, the orginal gruff Fury and the Ultimate, but you have to admitt that Samuel L. can portray that intensity better than most actors and I see why they modeled the Ultimate version after him.

Samuel L. Jackson is a great actor. I think he'd be a great Nick Fury. If there was a movie all about Nick, I think it should be the gruff cigar smaking dude. I do like the that version better. But for a small apperance, I think Samuel L. is a good idea.

Thanks for the background info on Nick Fury. Didn't know much about him after playing the game. You don't play with him much in UA.

Once upon a time, I had all of the Nick Fury Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. comics. No idea how many I had since I stopped collecting them over 15 years ago. However, Nick Fury, to me, is the hard-ass white guy with a stogie. But I do admit, Samuel L. Jackson has the right temperment to play the role. As for the racial crossover issue...for that matter, gender...one has only to look to Battlestar Galactica to see that changes from the original can be a very good thing indeed. I look forward to Iron Man comming out!

I heard no rumor about Fury appering in this movie and I'm glad I didn't. It was a complet and tottal surprise to me, but when I heard Mr. Jackson's voice, I was hooping and clapping! Ultimate Nick Fury is, in my opinon, on of the best charecters in comics and I believe it was a very wise move to have Ultimate Fury as opposed to regular.
