Crash byt Paul Haggis won the Best Picture award in 2005. At times it reminds of the amazing tv-show The Wire. The directing is not that very good. Maybe i´m used to the raw feeling from The Wire.The writing is amazing,I reaalythought the writing was realisticand had some great dialouge in there. The acting isn´t top notch but it works just fine. Crash allso has a realy nice sence of humor which made me laugh a couple of times. Does Crash deserv the academy award? Probaly.

In fact it is extremely heavy handed and basically just bashes the viewer over the head with the message that Haggis is trying to get across.

The smartly "crashing" plots, the great performances and the chilling background music makes Crash a must-see for every Drama fan. Thandie Newton's performance was a highlight for me especially in the car accident scene.

Overrated. But that doesn't mean it's a bad movie- just that the critical lovefest that wound up winning it an Oscar was overblown and reactionary. I give the writers kudos for even tackling the thorny issue of racism, but I don't consider the preachy, contrived script to be the serious examination of this issue that so many critics deemed it to be.

That said, Crash is enjoyable from an entertainment standpoint: the acting is, for the most part, outstanding and the story is engaging. And if it incites a legitimate, serious discussion about racism, all the better.

People had been telling me for years to watch this film and I never did because of the truly awful 1997 movie of the same name. I finally rented the dvd a couple of days ago and had to watch it again last night to pick up all the "clues". This film is like a masterfully woven blanket. A really remarkable film and yes, if Usual Suspects could get an Oscar for Best Writing then this film deserved one too. I am only watching Capote and Good Night, Good Luck this week so I can't say if Crash should have won Best Motion Picture instead of them, but this film is definitely Oscar material.

Thandie Newton deserves mention because her performance was astounding and really moving. During the police encounter (not to give awa spoilers) her expression was so convincing, so real. She deserved the BAFTA.

A powerful film about racism. The story is both simplistic and complicated. As a parable, the story relies much on coincidences, which would seem contrived under normal circumstances but are used to great effect in the movie. On the other hand, the movie is sophisticated in its weaving together of different threads of lives and cultures colliding and crashing (literally as well as metphorically) into each other. Certainly nothing is simple about the complex motivations behind the prejudices of the characters and the way they interact with each other. The movie is not perfect in the artistic sense, but its raw, almost childlike, honesty is refreshing and effectively moving. What makes Crash so compelling is that while it is about the incredible rage of racism, the movie itself is never angry; it is about intolerance and its dire consequences, but it is also about hope and understanding. It's a film that makes you think while at the same time keeping you on the edge of your seat with suspense and tension, and that's a rare quality in today's movies.

The Academy Award winning film, for best picture. The scene that is the most vivid in my head as I type this is when Michael Pena's daughter was shot at by the owner of the store, where Michael Pena's character was suppose to fix the door, but he couldn't fix it because he needed a brand new door...That scene is an incredible one. Overall the movie is great, with great performances by almost everybody. The directing is great, and the story is great. 10/10.
