A man - trying to run away from his past... A woman - trying to escape her future! One of the best film noirs made in the 1940's. Told in flashback narrative, the story revolves around Jeff Bailey who was once a private dick and was hired by Whit Sterling to find a lover who ran away with $40,000 of his money. Bailey finds her in Acapulco, Mexico. Not long after, everything goes wrong for Bailey because fate and a femme fatale have entered his life.
