Well, everyone knows there was an old one, so I guess the best way to review this movie is to compare and contrast.

Well, everyone knows there was an old one, so I guess the best way to review this movie is to compare and contrast.

Wonka: In the old film, Gene Wilder's Wonka was a charming, clever, suave, elegant, and pretty demented candy man. He acts so clever like he has everything planned out, he is kind, but also strict, and plans to get what he aims for. Johnny Depp's however is a little different, the film seems to center more around him than Charlie, there's more focus on him than Wilder's character. I guess Depp's Wonka is supposed to be a kid trapped in a man's body, he is also a bit more naive and a little funnier. I don't know who to perfer, they are both different and both are great.

Supporting cast: In the old film, the kids were great actors and represented the bratty stereotypes of the 70s. In the new film, they're great too, in fact, they updated.
Agustous: In the old film he was a little more laid back, and you never did see him eat any of the candy he said to have eaten, except for the chocolate river. In the new film, he constantly ate and looked way more excited to see the factory. In short, he was pushed a little more...
Violet: The old one was a gum enthusiast, but when she heard about the golden tickets, she laid off the gum and switched to candy bars, just so she could win. In the new film, it was actually pointed out that she was a winner, and winning everything humanly possible ever, which leads to her demise as a blueberry.
Veruca: This one was more interesting in the old film, because she was louder, and semmed more determined to get what she wanted.
Mike: In the old film he was young and loved TV, and seemed more excited about these things going on in the factory. With the new one, he found many things ridiculous and stupid, and overall, not as likeable as the old one.
Charlie: The new one is just a saint, always doing everything perfect, and to be honest, the acting is pretty bland. The old one was more realistic, since he did some things that weren't perfect; hey, kids are like that.

The Visuals: In both films, the factory was a great contrast to the regular everyday world, being so magical and weird, the new one just looks better because of the special effects, the whole new film is just a little more fun to watch. The old one strays far from the book's details, making it more creative...

You may not like the new one as much as the other one, but it's still an enjoyable piece...

This movie is very cool and funny it is actually the only Tim Burton movie that I like.Every one in the movie is hilarious.Johnny Depp is perfect as Willy Wonka.He is very funny and has great music.You want to sing with the Umpa Lumpas while you watch.It is fun to watch and the special effects are amazing and cool.And it goes along with the book very well.Over all it is a spectacular movie.
