"Stylishly confusing, never makes a word of sense and lacks a single genuine scare."

'Boogeyman' is a thoroughly muddled and incomprehensible excuse for a horror movie. It's a disaster turned horror film. When - or if - you can manage to see past the literally unbelievable and laughable premise, the film's bad acting and awful special effects are going to do nothing that reinforce your discontent for it. Viewers aware of Sam Raimi's participation here expecting something along the lines of 'The Grudge' are going to be sorely disappointed. Now 'The Grudge' didn't deserve any awards for a groundbreaking plot that was followed through brilliantly from start to finish, but that movie genuinely terrifying and utterly creepy to its core and it should not have mattered too greatly about the plot to anyone other than poncy film critics when it's near impossible to see past or not be effected on some level by the film's incredible visual scares - 'Boogeyman' is what you get when you take out all of the scares 'The Grudge' delivered and the convincing acting, and leave in any and all the flaws it might have had, add some truly awful special effects and stretch it out to feature length.

Might be worth watching if you're bored but you've got a couple close options that you might like better: 'Darkness Falls' 'Dead Silence'

this film could have been brilliant, the ideas are there for that, but yet they managed to mess up the film, how surprising. The whole problem with this film is that its a jumbled mess of story's & they don't really make much clear...boys dad...
