Walter Eckland is a boozed up beachcomber who is asked to be a lookout on the South Pacific Island and to watch for planes that are passing over. After answering a distress call Eckland discovers a French woman named Catherine Frenau and her 7 female students and he has no choice but to take them back to the island with him and keep them safe until they are all rescued. This turns out to be a difficult task because Walter does not get along with them when they first get back to the island.
