Now thats a movie that shows how to so it. Nothing realy hapens in the movie, but still keeps me intressted, tats hard to do. Perfect dialouge. And a verry good story. In the beginning they are sure that the boy is innosent, and you as a viewer too. But later things are being axplaned that makes it so obvious. From being sure that he is guilty, to being sure he is not. Fantastic directing and acting, and perfect script. One of the best movies ever made.

Now here's a movie that almost takes the mantle of being the best crime film ever away from DePalma's Scarface. 12 Angry Men has many, many great things in it. For one thing, the writing is brilliant. The entire movie takes place in one room, except for a minute in the beginning and a minute in the end. Yet, there is more tension and intensity in this film than in any James Bond movie ever made, in which Bond travels all around the world. It's amazing how we only see this room yet when we see the jurors discuss the case we can imagine perfectly what they're describing. After watching this flick you will be able to see in your head the setting of the alledged murder in perfection. Thanks from this goes to the dialogue that the men speak. It has achieved the perfect balance of not over-describing things, but yet keeping them described enough to make us think about them properly. It gives us strong guidelines as to what the setting looked like, but we decide on some of the things. The dialogue outside describing the crime scene or happenings are also incredibly intense when taking note of the setting. The primary contributor to this aside from the wonderful script is the acting and directing. Henry Fonda is always pretty golden, and all of the rest also do a damn good job. Especially Lee J. Cobb gives a great performance as the person who seems to be against judging the kid innocent just because he doesn't want to do so. However, without a shadow of a doubt, I can say that the best thing about this film is the directing. Lumet truly realised what the camera can be used for in this movie. He shot the film in a weird way - in the beginning, most or all angles are shot from above. Then the angle eventually lowers, so that in the end we're looking up to the characters. This makes for brilliant effect and creates tension. Don't believe it? I'll give you an example. Imagine a chubby-ish man, in his late 40s, looking kinda mad. Imagine him being shot from the front, but from above. He seems like a comic relief character in a drama or a comedy. Now, picture him from up front, as if you were looking at him right in the eye from whatever height you may be. He seems like a regular character in a drama picture, perhaps someone who achieves redemption in the end after being kicked around by life. Now, imagine him from below. Does he look funny? No. Does he look even somewhat relatable? No. He seems intimidating, scary and threatening. This effect is something that is majestically applied in this film, and for some bizarre reason has since been forgotten. Directorially, this is a brilliant picture for the above reason. 12 Angry Men is an awesome movie. It contains nothing but witty dialogue, great performances and directing that has to be seen to be believed. It's the perfect movie for anyone tired of CSI-shows with their technical way of solving crime using technology. These men use their brains to come up with the best solution they can, and it's an astonishing thing to gaze upon.

What a star fest of a movie, some heavyweights and long-time TV and movie actors including Fonda, Klugman, E.G. Marshall, Ed Begley, John Fiedler, Martin Balsam, Jack Warden...its almost a shame they have to wait turns to get their lines.

What a star fest of a movie, some heavyweights and long-time TV and movie actors including Fonda, Klugman, E.G. Marshall, Ed Begley, John Fiedler, Martin Balsam, Jack Warden...its almost a shame they have to wait turns to get their lines.

The dialog is quite clever, its especially interesting to see the jurors tripped up on their own words a number of minutes later. For a simple set-like play based on a television show, the limited production values are effective as well, particularly the heat of the jury room and the pouring rain that later sets in. And the knee-jerk emotionalism and prejudice of the actors is well scripted.

I can't give the movie one thing, and its a big one. Its very possible to introduce doubt and uncredible wintnesses, but much like "Perry Mason" deals in unheard of and often wrong court procedure, so does this movie in the jury room. It relies too heavily on exactly what jurors are supposed not to do - speculate on evidence and scenarios not introduced at trial. It may have taken a little more effort in the writing to be more realistic, but it would have been effort well worth the time.
