A curious, & slightly inept, Soviet submarine captain (Theodore Bikel) tries to get a little too close a look at Cape Cod, & predictably winds up stuck. In an effort to get help to get loose, his hapless executive officer (Alan Arkin) captures a nervous writer (Carl Reiner) & his family. It doesn't take long for the entire oddball community to think they've been picked as ground zero for an invasion & get into the act to repel the Red menace!
