Ian Holm, as the ambulance chasing lawyer, delivers an amazing performance. He's a troubled man, family troubles, and he's in this small town looking to right a terrible wrong: a school bus accident. Do his demons push him harder then he should be willing to go, trying to get the parents to sue for damages?
But he's just one of the stories. There are others: the adulterous wife and her lover. The bus driver. A father and his own issues with his daughter. There are many little twists, many hidden truths in this film.
It is played out of sequence, disjointed...like real life, and the truth is revealed to us as it is here too, when you really don't want.
This is a very good film, worth the watch, although, as a warning, be prepared for the fact it unfolds not only out of order, but in a slow pace.
