I would say this is one of the two best "Pink Panther" movies, and aside from that, it's a matter of taste for Clouseau and the comedy formula.

I would say this is one of the two best "Pink Panther" movies, and aside from that, it's a matter of taste for Clouseau and the comedy formula.

Here the gags are worked decently into the plot, as usual I like the early ones the best (the cold cream on the nose, the flaming cigarette lighter placed inside the pocket, the police car taking off without the Inspector after being told to "return to headquarters", etc.). But I tire of all this easily as the formula repeats itself over and over, there is just not enough down-time or change of pace in the recipe.

The pressure to have a funny moment in every scene is fairly unique for the time, and has been influential to comedies that have followed. Elke Sommers is not as adept at it and it shows. Overall, for me, it just seems scattershot at times, despite Sellers' ability to deadpan a lot of good stuff. I just get bored with many of the repetitive schticks (such as Clouseau's being arrested undercover repeatedly or being hit by opening doors in all the indoor shots).

My favourtie film of the Pink Panther/Inspector Clouseau series.

Clouseau has never been funnier, with hardly a scene going by without having at least one laugh out loud moment appearing.

Clouseau has never been funnier, with hardly a scene going by without having at least one laugh out loud moment appearing.

Herbert Lom and Burt Kwouk also provide more than adequate supporting roles.

A definate must for fans of the series.

Not as good as the frist one but still a good pink panter movie and a very funny one to.
