A very good movie. it's funny and has funny, interesting characters. It's antics are also very funny and keep you engaged to the movie. Great animated movie.

From the people who brought Shrek and Shark Tale to the big screen comes Madagascar, a story about four animal friends who are living the life in the New York Zoo and suddenly find themselves in the wild of, you guessed it, Madagascar. The movie features the voices of Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Jada Pinkett Smith, and David Schwimmer. The film starts out with all four animals, a lion, zebra, hippo, and a giraffe (all voiced by the four mentioned above respectively) living a happy, perfect life in New York. That is, until Marty (the zebra and voiced by Chris Rock) decides that he wants to see the wild, and leaves his cage. The other animals, Alex (the lion), Gloria (the hippo), and Memlam (the girafee) to leave their cages to find Marty and bring him back. Well, they get in trouble and are sent to Madagascar, of which they reach after being thrown off a ship that is. What comes next is all four animals trying to cope with being in the wild for the first time, and since Alex is a lion, he has the hardest time.

As an animated movie, Madagascar doesn't wow anyone with great animation. It actually looks a little cartoony, and when compared to the likes of Shrek, it pales in that department. The plot is ok, although for older audiences, you've probably seen this same plot many times before. The voice acting is great all around, but isn't able to keep the movie above a kids movie, and doesn't really have much for older people to enjoy.

Overall, Madagascar is a good kids movie, but fails to act as a great all around movie for all ages. If you have kids, then Madagascar is a great rental, but if you don't, you might want to choose another animated flick.

Original and funny. My son loved this movie, and made me buy the DVD. I also liked it, just not as much as he did.
