"Battle Royale 2" was always going to struggle to be better than it's predecessor. It would've been almost impossible to make the film anymore than either a carbon copy of the first film, or a generic action film. Thus was the fate of this film.
The impact of the events from the first film are nothing but faint echoes in this film, the acting is below average, and all we are left with is an unoriginal "kids go to war" movie. Very dissapointing.

I loved the first movie, but couldn´t stand this one, it´s like comparing tim burton´s version of Batman, and the ridiculous Schumacher versions, the uniforms and characters were too flashy, the way the survivors of the first movie justify their acts of terrorism are simple not logical,THE ORIGINAL MOVIE WAS LOW BUDGET LOOKING AND STILL WAS WAY BETTER THAN THIS FIASCO! the only thing that i liked were the Buddy system-based collars,(although are a contradiction to the original one)Maybe you just got to watch this movie in order to understand how bad it is, although i advise you against it.

This film is plagued with problems, the first being that it's downright boring. The first movie had plenty of hand to hand combat, and interesting ways for the kids to die. In this sequel, if the kids aren't being shot, their heads are exploding. There's absolutley no variation in the violence.
Secondly, none of the new class has any personality. The first class was interesting because you could distinctly tell what kid was in what social group, and who were and weren't friends. This film was missing that, along with hardly any backstory, so the new characters aren't the least bit interesting.
...and the ending is absolutely terrible.

So bad its good!
After the events that transpired in the first film, the two survivors, Shuya and Noriko, flee Japan to Afghanistan, and soon after that Shuya stes up the terrorist group Wild Seven which is trying to destroy the Japanese government. The plot follows the school kids who are being sent in to kil the Wild Seven. This film is really dull and derivative as the story, acting, and general feeling has none of the care that the original had, and this ends up being boring and dissapointing. Only for fans!

Battle Royale II is the sequel to the acclaimed cult hit of the same name that came out in Japan. This time around, 40 some odd students are chosen to hunt down and eliminate Shuya Nanahara, who is now a terrorist that's trying to bring new order to Japan. This is a neat idea considering in the first one the students were just killing each other off. However, it wears thin after a while. The rules closely resemble the ones from the previous movie but they brought up the fear of the explosive necklaces. This time around, the students are paired up with the fellow student who shares the same number as they do and if they wander more than 50 meters apart from each other it explodes. Once you hear this, if you've seen the first movie, it's a great idea and it puts more fear into the movie, however the necklace option is basically over-kill. It gets boring and gross after after you see the first 10 people get blown to pieces and doesn't have the same impact it had in the original. Also, the first action scene where the students are landing on the island where Shuya is hiding is a complete rip off of Saving Private Ryan. It seems almost identical, for some moments I actually began to think that I was watching Saving Private Ryan. And there's no excuse to be copying a movie like that. There are some good performancs but only a few, mainly by Tatsuya Fujiwara who is just as good as he was in the original Battle Royale. It tries to create some poignant politic debates with it's values and beliefs but then you just get pounded over the head with them and it gets muzzled out in the end. Same with the violence, it lacks the punch it had in the original. The realism is no where to be found and it has good intentions but they just pound you over the head and you begin not to care. A rugby ball tries to mimic the emotional impact that the photograph had in the original, but it fails miserably, because in the end you just don't care. This is a prime example of a really bad sequel that followed an amazing original movie. It's too convoluted to be taken seriously or enjoyable in that matter. If you're a fan of the original, re-watched the first one again or read the book to the original, because both are hands down better than this piece of trash.
