By the time of "spaghetti" westerns, the genre was already well into decline. It is hard to be sure of exactly why though the style of "the Man With No Name" trilogy is certainly distinct and a late statement on the cinematic type.

I dislike it, always have since I first saw these movies over 40 years ago. The Spanish scenery lends a sense of aridity, the dialog is limited and tells less of story than personality. The meanings and messages are mainly limited, here greed and double-crosses. The idea of the Civil War extending into the desert is odd and un-needed.

With limited budgets, Leone concentrates on long camera angles and small parables, often with violence that says more about twisted wish-fullfillment than anything about what made the American west what it was. Relativism and westerns are a poor mix to my mind, though fans likely disagree.

This movie sets the gold standard for the genre. An absolutely 'must-see' film.

The Good,the Bad, and the Ugly is without a doubt the best movie of the series and not to mention the entire genre. It has a lot of action, a great storyline, and the best theme song any movie could ever dream of having.

Arguably, the best western movie made ever. From the opening scenes introducing Eastwood, Wallach and Van Cleef in the roles they played to the hilt throughout the movie to the final showdown with the famous close-ups of the trio's eyes, The Good, The Bad and the Ugly easily gets any watcher enthralled with its greatness. It's a movie you could watch many, many times and never get bored of it.

The third Part in the series is with no doubt the best. Clint Eastwood is back along with Lee VanCleef. The story is good, the acting is great and the screenplay and plot is fantastic.

One of the best westerns ever if not the best. The characters alone make it shine not to mention the incredible sound track. This movie gets a standing ovation every time i see it.

I remember the movie and I remember how much I loved it. Great story and great actors in a great production = Success. Western were pretty good in that time, and this one is certainly of the greatest example.
