5 out of 5 I'm writing this review to give support to one of my favorite films EVER! I decided to check this flick on this site to see if they would add animated movies like this on the site. I guess they do, and I noticed that the average rating is currently set at 2 and half stars. BLASPHEMOUS! I'm outraged knowing that something like this can be passed-off as mediocre. This is far from it. Perfect Blue is an animated thriller. It revolves around a young woman, Mima, who desires moving on from her current career as a singing pop-idol, to become an actress. To achieve this transition, she leaves her fellow band members, her job, and her old life. This creates tension for a certain obsessed fan. And at the same time, you see as she develops psychological after-effects. This leads to the film's direction. The movie flows straight forward from the the beginning of the movie, until Mima begins to experience violence. As Mima becomes traumatized the film gets confusing, it becomes a battle to categorize what's real and what's not. You start asking the question, how do multiple people with there own personal mental problems perceive each other, and everything around them? This has some of the most well-developed characters for a cartoon I've ever seen. Perfect Blue is a very unique movie. Very violent, pretty lengthy, and very well written.
