Charles "Butcher" Benton (Lon Chaney Jr.) gets the gas chamber for murder. Along with 3 other gangsters (his crooked lawyer Paul Lowe, Joe Marcelli and Squeamy Ellis), he had robbed an armored car of $600,000. A biochemist named Bradshaw illegally gets hold of Benton's dead body-- and in some arcane experiment to "find a cure for cancer," he zaps Benton with 287,000 volts of electricity. Benton is now a reanimated corpse, and invulnerable to bullets. Benton seeks revenge on his 3 partners-- and kills anyone who gets in his way.
