If you want a real horror movie, donât watch Cursed. If you want a movie similar to Cravenâs Scream trilogy, donât watch Cursed. If you want an average by-the-numbers horror flick with not-too-bad performances, then you should watch Cursed. Letâs start with the cast performances; the only thing to be said really is ânot too badâ. That pretty much sums it up. Christina Ricci plays Ellie, the disbelieving sister. And regrettably, her performance isnât too believable either. Throughout the film, it seems as if sheâs not really putting much effort into it at all. And you canât help but think that a teen genre horror flick is just somehowâ¦beneath her. Jesse Eisenberg plays the brother, Jimmy, that seems all too fascinated with Werewolf lore. He delivers an average performance which screams ânothing specialâ. This is also true of Milo Ventimiglia and Joshua Jackson. The movie itself starts off as any other clichéd horror flick. Unfortunately for the viewer, it stays this way. There are moments when the viewer may think there could perhaps be some sort of exposition on the characters, but thereâs not. The movie introduces a concept that is already unoriginal enough (who hasnât tried to make a movie about werewolves?) and seems to have the potential to go somewhere but sloppy editing and an unfocused plot detract from this. And this results in a silly 97 minutes that leaves the viewer feeling hollow by the end.
As said before, if you want a by-the-numbers, clichéd, unoriginal horror flick, Cursed is definitely the way to go. If youâre looking for something more, look elsewhere.

I think Wes Craven is brilliant, I loved Scream and Red Eye, but this wasn't one of his best movies. There were a few in-your-face moments that are good. But the movie didn't really have me on the edge of my seat. Werewolves were a pretty good concept. I rarely see those used in horror films. But I thought that the werewolves stuff didn't exactly stick to the legend. It was like the writers just completely rewrote the werewolves history.
I think Christina Ricci is a great actress but she was a little too wimpy for this horror movie. Yeah, that was how the character was potrayed, but I think she fell down one too many times. I love Milo Ventimiglia in this movie, he was kinda the comic relief of the whole thing. But in the end I didn't think it was necessary for him to be there.
Overall this movie is watchable but don't be too bummed if you miss it. Afterall vampires make a more interesting horror flick than werewolves.

Even though I am a big fan of Wes Craven, and I was more than happy to see him teaming up with Kevin Williamson again, this is my least favourite of all his movies.
It had it's moments e.g. the wrestling scene, but overall this really didn't bring anything new to the werewolf genre, and the special effects were pretty dissapointing, when I finally saw the Werewolf in full, in my opinion it resembled a giant Teddy Bear on steroids.
Only recommended for major Wes Craven fans.
