Janie Barlow, a female dancer, is discovered by a rich young man named Tod Newton. She realizes she is tired of dreaming and decides she is ready to start living her dream. Along the way, Janie is aided by Newton, who falls in love with her. Although reluctant at first, Patch Gallagher, the director for a Broadway musical, hires her and eventually makes her the leading dancer. Tod Newton forces Janie to promise that if she does not make it as a dancer, she would marry him, while Patch makes her promise not to let him and the team down. Now Janie is stuck in the middle of two men, one who loves her and one whom she loves.
