When Duncan Mudge's (Emile Hirsch) mother dies, She leves a huge void in his life. He begins to mimics her voice, wear her fur coat to bed and carry her pet chicken with him everywhere. His father, Edgar, (Richard Jenkins) is disgusted by the bizarre behavior and wants to turn his son into a man. Duncan is made fun of by everyone in town, only until Perry (Thomas Guiry) becomes his friend.
