U need to watch this film twice to really understand what the hell is going on, cuz at the beginning everything's pretty confusing. In the end everything is clarified though.

I know, I know... not many people liked Aeon Flux. And yet for some strange reason I loved it so fiercely, all I can think of is returning to that beautiful Japanese garden of the future. They say that when music video producers hit the big screen, you can see the effects in the use of lighting and colour. And indeed, the design and vision this movie present of the future is simply outstanding. It was simply visually beautiful, a symphony for the eyes.

And there have been similar films that have been grilled as this film has been. The Cell is one such film that comes to mind. Except that where the pain of the characters was only accessible in d'Onofrio's character in The Cell, and this through the visualisation of his madness, the emotions of the characters in Aeon Flux is expressed by the actors themselves. Once again, not everyone agrees here, but I so accessed Csokas's character that it has greatly influenced my view of this film.

It reminded me of the field scene in 1984, the beauty of The Cell, the warped futuristic vision of Handmaid's Tale. An so I gave it a ten.

Aeon Flux raises a lot of questions about humanity and what makes a person human however it's intelligent plot becomes very boring and due to it's Sci Fi look you'd expect action to hold your attention but there isn't much of it, instead it's an interesting story that kind of goes nowhere fast. Based on the animated short films of Peter Chung, the movie succeeds in translating Chung's series into a brilliant full length film. While it would be impossible to have an actress bend like in the MTV animated series, Charlize Theron is very acrobatic and looks great in spandex and black leather. The costumes are futuristic and the landscapes, mostly CGI, are gorgeous takes on mid-century design.Aeon Flux takes place 400 years in the future. Mankind has been contained to a single walled in city where the last 5 million people on the planet live. They've protected themselves off from the rest of the world due to a virus, and the deadly virus still lurks in the animals that inhabit the jungles surrounding this area.The city however is in great despair.The government run by scientist Trevor Goodchild (Marton Csoks) rules the city, and anyone that disagrees with what they say disappears.There is a rebellious group at work,who want to overthrow the Goodchild regime. They are the Monicans. The most skilled and powerful of these assassins is Aeon Flux (Theron).Very intelligent twists and turns later and Aeon Flux soon becomes as good or even better than The Matrix.What is most amazing about the film is its stylized look.Aeon Flux is packed with bizarre images and intense and unique fight sequences,that give it a spark that is missing from most sci-fi films like Pitch Black.

I was a bit confused when I saw this film. Somehow interesting and intriguing plot but then something was majorly lacking.
