The trailer made this movie appear to be about something completely different. I think that since I was expecting a crazed thriller, full of wild suspense and over the top 'boy loses girl and tries to get girl back' action. But it's not.
As another reviewer points out, the plot is cliche and pretty obvious, but I really liked it, mostly because of two reasons: 1. the out sequence sections and 2. the fact that the trailer totally mislead me.
The acting is average, but I'm not sure if it was the acting or the direction in this case. I would have to watch it a couple of more times to realize what was lacking, but there is something missing.
There are also a couple of plot threads that never get sorted out, and that should never have even been invited in if they were just going to be left hanging.
This is a actually a pretty good date movie, as there are a good cross section of emotions, and character flaws / developments that will be of useful emotional discussion to a young couple in love.
I want to give a special note to Matthew Lillard: it is great to see you play a part with humanity in it. I hope you get a chance to do more.
