A bus crashes and the four passengers die, their souls entering a baby (Thomas Reilly) just born. These four souls, played by Kira Sedgwick, Alfe Woodard, Tom Sizemore and Charles Grodin, are stuck to Thomas Reilley and they have no idea why. Here's the catch: Thomas can see them and as a result, their influence causes him to act in ways a normal seven year old wouldn't act. So the four souls decide to disappear to Thomas, thinking it's best for him in the long run. Fast forward to where Thomas, played by Robert Downey Jr., has grown into a heartless foreclosure expert. And finally the four souls find out why they are stuck to Thomas - to do the one thing they didn't get to do before they died.
