Trooper Jack Deth has just returned from one of the rim planets after singeing rebel leader Martin Whistler. Now all that remains is to take out the remnants of his murdering army. They're called Trancers, slaves to Whistler's psychic mind. Not really alive, not dead enough. When he receives a call though from Angel City's High Council, Jack is in for a surprise. Whistler's alive and he's gone 'down the line'. Arriving in 1980s Los Angeles, he's systematically killing the Council's ancestors so that they were never born. Jack's mission - to protect the family line of the two remaining Chairmen and bring Whistler back for trial. Inhabiting the body of his own ancestor, journalist Philip Deth, Jack immediately starts tracking Whistler down, helped by Lena, a department store Santa's elf. In this time though, Whistler is a high-ranking police officer and has used the position to his advantage. Hunted by the law and with new Trancers on his tail, Jack faces a tough battle to save the future...
