Tom Winston's is forced to raise his three children by himself after his wife dies which seems to be a hard task. Together they are on their way to their summer home with their new maid Cinzia, who the children forced their dad to hire. On the way there they see their house on the back of a truck and then it gets hit by a train and demolished. The man who was driving their house then offers them to stay on his houseboat and they soon grow attached to it.
