I remember when this film came out it had a really big impact on my best friend Heather. Despite this and despite being mad about Ryan Gosling, I just never got around to seeing it.
I really love the whole premise of an old man reading a love story to an old woman. This is a really beautiful, classic love story and it is one of those wonderful films that take you on a journey of highs and lows as you cheer and cry with the characters. It is a definite "holding hands with the hero, fall in love with the heroine" type of tale (reference to Hothouse Flowers: Movies).

Normally I like the romantic/tragic type of film, but this one didn't do it for me at all. What hurt it so badly was that the surprise at the ending was so blatantly obvious from the beginning. I really didn't care about what was going to go on...

I really didn't care about what was going to go on in the middle, because that story didn't really matter in how they were able to reach the end.

I love it. It's a great love story. I didn't read the book, but I intend to. A film to watch over and over. High recommend.

Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling are amazing and if you don't find this film moving then there must be something seriously wrong with you.

The Notebook has everything a love story needs and everything you would want in a chick flick. With superb acting for Rachel McAdams, Ryan Gosling, Gena Rowlands, and James Garner, this is a movie that shouldn't be missed.

The Notebook follows the story of a man in a retirement home reading to his lady companion. He reads a story about two star-crossed lovers in the 1940s. (It is later revealed in the end that the old couple is the one in the story.) I love the chemistry between Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling. They made Allie and Noah come to life. The way they found each other, then lost each other, and finally found each other again was very heart-wrenching. I love how the older Noah makes the old Allie fall in love with him everytime. That's what love should be about: falling in love with each other every day.

I actually read the book after seeing the movie and I thought that the movie did some justice to the book. So, if you're a fan of romantic movies, I highly recommend this one. Just be prepared with a tissue box.
